What is fixed income? |
Fixed income refers to debt securities (for example bonds) that pay a defined distribution (the coupon) for a given period of time (the term) and repay the face value of the security at maturity. A fixed income security or bond is a loan from an investor to the issuer of the security. Issuers of fixed income securities in India include the Central Government, state governments, Psu's,domestic and foreign banks, corporations and infrastructure assets and other Financial Institution . The specific structure of a fixed income security can vary significantly depending on the issuer, term and maturity, coupon type and where it sits in the capital structure. |
